Why are Taylor Swift fans so incredibly mad at Burger King?
Note to all fast food restaurants out there:
Be careful what you say — or tweet — about Taylor Swift.
Burger King is learning that the hard way, having made a comment online about the superstar that angered some fans.
Now, Swifties are making BK pay for the comment, barraging “the Home of the Whopper” with a bunch of angry social media posts in Swift’s defense.
How did we get in this pickle?
It all began when one person tweeted at Burger King and asked what appeared to be a simple question:
“@BurgerKing i need to know … what’s yalls favorite taylor swift song?”
And BK’s answer?
“the one about her ex”
And that started a massive rebuttal, quickly causing the hashtag #BurgerKingIsOverParty to trend on Twitter.
The thing is, however, Burger King’s response was super funny — and, some would say, pretty accurate as well, given how much Swift’s failed relationships have factored into her songwriting.
For example, our two favorite Taylor Swift songs — “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and “Shake It Off” — are both about ex-boyfriends.
So, we definitely got Burger King’s joke and feel like we need to go buy a Whopper combo, or two, to show our support.
Plus, we should be able to get through the drive-thru in no time flat, given that Taylor fans say they won’t be coming back into the restaurant anytime soon.
